I aim to get you better as fast as possible.
Mr. Hughes practices structural manipulation along with cranial osteopathy and also a combined technique of reiki and cranial osteopathy.
Introduction
Richard hughes Do, is a registered osteopath with practices in Bewdley and presteigne (for over 20 years). He qualified from the Eso in 1995. He has seen NHS patients and has worked for various rugby clubs, and also olympic/world champion athletes. Prior to osteopathy, Richard was a sportstherapist and worked at a tennis club and triathlon events, he also worked as a head gym instructor/manager.

How I work
In my treatments I tend to do minimal manipulation/Hvt techniques. Instead I use articulation, muscle energy technique, fascial unwinding, cranial osteopathy and many others. However if a manipulation approach works for you I am happy to work in this manner, and I am equally happy to provide cranial osteopathy should you wish. I often combine cranial osteopathy with Reiki.

Your appointment
This will involve a detailed case history and examination I will then discuss with you my findings, and whether I think osteopathy is the correct treatment for you. I will also let you know how many treatments you may require. If you are happy to proceed the first treatment is carried out. In addition I will inform you of anything you should or shouldn’t do and any effects you may experience.

Case Studies
Mrs R, a very active 70 year old lady, presented to the practice complaining of knee pain. This was diagnosed as osteo-arthritis. By using gentle articulation and soft tissue techniques, Mrs R was pain free in 2 treatments.
Mr H, a fit man in his early 40’s, had a previous history of acute low back pain. He presented to the practice complaining of severe low back pain after a lifting incident at work. The diagnosis was an acute facet lock of the lumbar spine. By using articulation and manipulation techniques, Mr H was 95% better after just one treatment.
Mrs J presented to the practice complaining of constant jaw pain, which she had been suffering with for 18 years. She had seen many specialists over the years without any success, and had been referred to a pain management clinic as a last resort. Osteopathic examination was to reveal a problem with the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) which was treated by cranial osteopathy. Within 3 treatments, Mrs J was 75% better and within 5 treatments, was 100% better.
